Boron

Low density, low strength metal commonly used  as an additive in chemical compounds, namely borosilicate glass and ceramics.

Boron is a primary constituent of borax and sassolite (borate minerals), the former of which is commonly used as a glaze in pottery and ceramics, the latter of which is mineralized boric acid, a useful antiseptic, insecticide, flame retardant, and precursor chemical.

Sodium perborate is useful as a laundry detergent and bleach.
